======================================================================
4) Description of Vulnerability

Secunia Research has discovered some vulnerabilities in Visualization
Library, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a
user's system.

The vulnerabilities are caused by boundary errors within the
"vl::loadDAT()" and "vl::isDAT()" functions in src/vl/vlDAT.cpp. This
can be exploited to execute arbitrary code by e.g. tricking a user
into opening a specially crafted DAT file.

======================================================================
5) Solution

Do not process untrusted DAT files in an application using the
library.

======================================================================
6) Time Table

30/12/2009 - Vendor notified.
13/01/2010 - Vendor notified again. Vendor response.
12/02/2010 - Requested estimated released date of the fixed version.
14/04/2010 - Public disclosure.

======================================================================
7) Credits

Discovered by Secunia Research.

======================================================================
8) References

The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) project has assigned
CVE-2010-0994 for the vulnerabilities.
