ESA-2013-012: RSA® Authentication Agent 7.1.1 for Microsoft Windows® Access Control Vulnerability

EMC Identifier: ESA-2013-012

CVE Identifier: CVE-2013-0931

Severity Rating: CVSS v2 Base Score: 6.0 (AV:N/AC:M/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:P)

Affected Products:

Product: RSA Authentication Agent for Microsoft Windows version 7.1 and 7.1.1

Platforms: Windows XP and Windows 2003

Unaffected Products:

Product: RSA Authentication Agent for Microsoft Windows version 7.1 and 7.1.1

Platforms: Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2008 and Windows 2008R2

Summary:

A user may incorrectly gain access to a desktop or a server protected by RSA SecurID® Authentication Agent v7.1 or v7.1.1.

Details:

When an RSA Authentication Agent 7.1 or 7.1.1 for Windows (for above listed platforms only) protected system is configured to use Quick PIN Unlock, activating the session from active screensaver after the Quick PIN Unlock timeout has expired incorrectly results in a prompt for a PIN only as opposed to a full Passcode.

Resolution:

The following products contain resolution to the issue:

•RSA Authentication Agent for Microsoft Windows version 7.1.2.
RSA strongly recommends all customers upgrade to these versions at the earliest opportunity.

If you cannot upgrade, the workaround is to disable Quick PIN Unlock, as described in the product documentation.
