EMC Identifier: ESA-2013-055

CVE Identifier: CVE-2013-3274, CVE-2013-3275

Severity Rating: See below for individual scores

Affected products:

All EMC Avamar Server and Avamar Virtual Edition versions prior 7.0 running on Avamar Data Store Gen3, Gen4 or Avamar Data Store Gen4s hardware.

Summary:

EMC Avamar Server 7.0 contains fixes for multiple security vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious users.

Details:

β€’ Improper authorization checks on Java RMI method calls (CVE-2013-3274)
Authenticated users could carry out potentially unauthorized functions within vulnerable system.
CVSS v2 Base Score: 8.5 (AV:N/AC:M/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C)

Resolution:

The fix for these issues is to upgrade the current grid/single node/VM system from its existing Avamar version to Avamar Version v7.0 or newer in order to get the fixes, as well as the updates and new features that are available in the Avamar 7.0 version. To schedule an Avamar server upgrade, or if you have any questions or concerns about the above resolution, please contact EMC Technical Support at (See http://support.emc.com )

EMC recommends that customers upgrade to Avamar 7.0 at the earliest opportunity.
